FINDERPRESS

How FinderPress handles information and privacy.

What information the site receives through comments, contact forms, newsletter subscriptions, and site performance measurement.

Updated October 15, 2026

Who to contact

For privacy questions or a request about your information, contact contact@finderpress.com and include the relevant page or feature. FinderPress is the publication responsible for this website. Do not send passwords, payment information, or identity documents in an initial request.

Comments

When you submit a comment, the site receives your name, email address, comment, and the article it relates to. The submission is stored in the site database for moderation. If approved, your name and comment appear publicly; your email address is not displayed to readers and is available only to authorized moderators. Comments remain in the moderation system until removed by the publisher. Do not include sensitive personal information in a comment.

Contact form

When you use the contact form, FinderPress receives the name, email address, and message you provide. The form sends this information to the editorial inbox through the configured email delivery provider. The site does not save the form message as an article or public record. The recipient and email provider may retain a copy in their mail systems according to their own settings and policies.

Email updates

If you subscribe to FinderPress email updates, the site uses your email address to send a confirmation link. We add the address to the configured mailing-list service only after you confirm. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email. A confirmation token is kept for up to 24 hours; an unsubscribe token lookup is retained so the link can work until used. After you unsubscribe, the mailing-list provider may retain a suppression record so it does not email you again. The provider may process subscription and delivery information under its own privacy notice.

Site performance and abuse prevention

If enabled, the site records limited Web Vitals measurements: a metric name, its numeric value, and the page path. The measurement record is not designed to include your name, email, or IP address. For rate limiting and abuse prevention, the server reads a network address from the request and uses a one-way digest for temporary counters; hosting and network providers may also keep request logs under their own policies.

Hosting, database, and service providers

The site uses hosting and database services to deliver pages and store publication content, accounts, comments, and settings. Depending on the features enabled, it may also use email, mailing-list, Redis, and Cloudflare Turnstile services. These providers process information needed to perform their service and may process it in other countries. Their own privacy notices and retention settings apply. The publisher should keep this list aligned with the providers actually configured in production.

Cookies, local storage, and advertising

The public pages do not currently use visitor accounts or browser storage for optional preferences. The CMS uses authentication cookies when an editor signs in. If Google AdSense or another advertising service is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve and personalize ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this or other websites. Google advertising cookies may also be used to measure ads. Manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com and learn about participating vendors’ choices at www.aboutads.info. Read how Google uses information on partner sites at policies.google.com.

Consent and choices

Before personalized advertising is served in regions where consent is required, the publisher must configure a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, and honor the choices it records. Newsletter recipients can unsubscribe; commenters can request removal of their comment and related email; visitors can contact us about other privacy requests. Applicable rights depend on where you live.

Retention and changes

Comments are kept while they remain part of the publication or moderation record. Newsletter addresses are kept by the mailing-list service until unsubscribed or removed; contact messages follow the recipient mailbox’s retention settings. Performance records and infrastructure logs may be kept for operational periods set by the publisher and providers. This notice should be updated when those services, settings, or purposes change.
