Read the outline without the visual styling
Large text is not necessarily a heading, and a small heading is still part of the document structure. Use the editor's outline view to read the article as a sequence of topics. The sequence should explain the argument even without colors, font sizes or images.
Check whether the template already supplies the article title as its main heading. Adding another title block inside the body can produce confusing repetition.
Assign levels by relationship
Use section headings for the main parts of the article and deeper levels for subsections within them. Do not choose an H4 simply because its default font size is attractive. Adjust presentation through supported style controls while keeping the semantic level appropriate.
