A scheduled refresh or email job can consume resources or change state. Define exactly what the endpoint is allowed to do, how much work one request can perform and how repeated requests are limited. A secret header alone does not bound the job's workload.
Generate a sufficiently long random secret and keep it in server environment configuration. Do not expose it through public frontend environment variables or put it into a URL query string that may appear in logs.
